Servitude of woman and children from Ukraine

The Society has reports of women and children fleeing the hostilities in Ukraine being trapped into servitude. Currently, the major problem is the number of women and children laboring in the fields. Another area of concern are reports of women and girls being traffcked by criminal syndicates into houses of ill repute.

Men, acting as recruiters, approach the women and girls in the refugee camps with offers of accommodation nad emplyment. When staff from the charity approach them, they vanish.

The issue has been raised by Ilias Chatzis, the Chief of the UNODC Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling Section.
